TWO FORWARD - TEN BACK

This past week has had its ups and downs. Incredible ups....and equally incredible downs. As a family we are very aware that this is the new normal and managing emotion and expectation is our biggest task.

First, lets get to the good stuff! As I have said, one of Moms favorite things to do is go on long car rides. This week Dad was able to take her out almost every day to run errands. He was also able to get her to Park City for dinner. He does this by himself - miraculous. She was also able to attend Hucks first football game. She texted me as soon as it was over and I could sense her excitement at being able to see it.

Mom was also able to move herself to the SIDE of the bed in order to get on her sit-to-stand device. I was so proud of her and shocked when I saw her do this. This was a goal for her and she fought hard to accomplish it. It's amazing to chat with her while she sits at the side of her bed balancing herself with her arms and hands. A couple of weeks ago she couldn't even hold herself up-right in bed. An amazing accomplishment.

Now for the lame. Change, for Mom, is very difficult and a big one happened this week. She really enjoyed the company of the daily visits from the hospice nurses assistant, Sierra. Sadly, Sierra had to return to school and it broke Mom's heart. Her response was to get angry and not allow the new assistant in and became very frustrated with everything (her health, what she can't do, etc). She got dehydrated again and the fever returned.

As you can tell it's a daily up and down and our family has appreciated your well wishes and prayers so much! Keep those texts and comments coming! And if you would like to coordinated a visit just send me an email for info.
